In her depictions, desire, disappointments and identity  struggles define characters and  atmospheres.

Margherita Mezzetti’s works oscillate between violence and
beauty. Her paintings flirt with the viewer transporting them
to a dangerous yet captivating place. Her subjects carry within them the tropes of girlhood, yet the longer
we look at her paintings, the more innocence is washed away as
darker feelings of inquietude and  fear  creep into the
compositions. As we look closely at her figures, we notice that
the big, innocent  eyes are gazing far beyond
the audience, as if they are completely absent from themselves,
lost somewhere far away in their minds. She got her MA in painting at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts. She currently lives and works in Berlin.
